“While you learn, your child advances.”
“Usted aprende, su hijo avanza.”
AVANCE’s core program is the 9-month intensive Parent-Child Education Program (PCE). This dual-generation program focuses on serving low-income families with children between ages birth to three. Following the school calendar year, AVANCE provides 27 weekly classes at 4 hours each for 9 months. Classes take place at the Allan Center (formerly Allan Elementary) (Tuesday-Friday) and Creedmoor Elementary in Del Valle (Mondays).
Parenting classes include parenting instruction, educational toy making, ESL, and resource sharing from the community. While parents are participating in class, their children are in an adjacent class with that offers early learning modules and age-appropriate learning with a focus on play, pre-literacy, and school readiness.
Also included are food, transportation to and from the program, as well as monthly home visits to assess the progress of each family.
